I have an AC890PX Drive. The CS Module, after power up won't supply any DC power. The Run LED is turned off and the fans do not run. What can cause this problem? All other modules in the rack are healthy and awaiting DC Power.
The manual is extremely vague on this issue and basically says "CS module cannot supply DC Power" and that is it. It gives no clues as to what can cause this issue.
Good morning JC. It is possible that your CS module has failed. I recommend checking the bus voltage parameter on this unit when the high voltage is on. To do this, go online with DSE Lite and look at Motor Control > Feedbacks > DC Link Volts. Or, from the keypad, check Setup > Motor Control > Feedbacks > DC Link Volts. If DC Link Volts reads 0 (or something very low) even with the high voltage on, you probably have a damaged CS module. Consider swapping it with a spare.
It is also important to make sure that high voltage is getting to the CS module's inputs. Many AC890PX drives were sold with accessory cabinets for external contactors (among other things). If there is a contactor installed in your unit that is not pulling in, you might not be getting high voltage.

I do have input voltage and the Main Power LED is on on the CS Module. My DC Buss voltage is always Zero and the RUN light never comes on.
Also, The fans are not running. I do have 48vdc control power to the front connections on the module. I am still having this problem.
Based on the troubleshooting you have done, I think it is likely you have a bad CS module. I would recommend installing a spare.
Believe me, if we had spares, that would have been the first thing we did. There are not parts available anywhere in the country and my customer has been down for two weeks.
I wish I had a faster solution. Unfortunately, our lead times have been pushed very far out due to component shortages from our vendors.
What are the scenarios that would keep the run light on the CS module from coming on?
Can you answer this question, because we found a spare unit that is a smaller size and we are having the same problem.
If the lights are not coming on, that implies the module is not getting power at all. This is especially likely if you have tried two modules (even if they are of different sizes).
Take a look at this page of the manual for some reference images:
The CS and CD modules are all fed auxiliary power (auxiliary, but mandatory) on a 28-30 VAC circuit that comes in through the front of the module. Are you getting the correct voltage on those lines? Could be that the low voltage has failed.
Also, take a look at the command cable for the CS module. This is the one in the upper-left with the big Parker logo. Inspect it for damage and make sure it is fully engaged. It is a good idea to check the control side as well since the cable can come loose there too.
To be fair, I don't think you would see the lights stay off if the comms cable failed -- seems very unlikely. But could at least be worth checking.
I think it is more likely the low voltage AC has failed due to a cabling issue.
The ONLY light that does NOT come on is the RUN light on the CS Module.
What scenario would cause the CS Module to not go into RUN. All control voltages are good. Main power is good. Comm cable is good and reading from the CS Module. When online, It shows 8vdc feedback on DC Buss which is what we read with a voltmeter(Which is just a residual voltage), So I know that it is communicating.
Again, I need to know what conditions would keep the CS Module from going into RUN?
All the manual says is:
module not able to supply
DC power to CD modules
This diagnostic is extremely generic and not very helpful. This is good to know, but along with it I need to know WHY it is unable to supply DC Power.
Is it a load issue?
Is it a Control issue?
Am I missing an Input somewhere?
This type of information is what I need to troubleshoot it.
I'm a little unsure what circumstances would cause this exact condition. Normally, my thought would be internal damage, but the fact that you tried a different module makes that less likely.
I've reached out to another engineer internally for more information. I'll also be checking with our repair department Monday (too late today) to see if they have more data on why that light would not turn on.
