Hello. The "Incompatible EEPROM Flags" runtime alert typically occurs if the drive's power stack has been repaired. If a new power board has been installed, it is possible that it was not correctly configured by the party that repaired it. There is no tool designed to allow these flags to be set in the field. For this reason, we do not recommend repairing 890 power stacks outside the factory.
If this is not a repaired unit, then perhaps the EEPROM was damaged as the result of a sudden power event, like an outage, surge or lightning strike.
My recommendation is to replace the drive or return it to the factory for repair. Your local Parker sales channel can assist you with either option. The Where To Buy button on the product page can help you find a sales channel close to you:

Hello Daniel, Thank you for your reply.
It is not a repaired unit, the problem occured during a firmware downgrade to version 1.10.
is there any procedure that can be followed to force the upgrade
If this unit was originally shipped with firmware 3.x, then downgrading to version 1.x is not allowed due to hardware changes in the product (especially STO). Firmware 1.x has not been available for at least 10 years.
If your unit shipped with firmware 3.x, just install the latest version. Then, you will need to rebuild your drive configuration for the new firmware. Unfortunately, there is no automatic conversion available.
Hi Daniel,
We always have the same issue with our 890 CPU firmware, we used an old CPU with the right firmware in order to start the machine.
The current situation is as folow :
- We bought a New CPU with Drive 3.4 firmware installed on it.
- Using DSELite, we downgraded the firmware to Processor 1.2, the downgrade went well but after drive started it showed "Incompatible EEPROM Flags".
- When we want to put back the right firmware, it fails each time and we have the following error message "Autobaud failed before loading boot"
Can you help us with this error ? How to disable autobaud on the 890?
We have tried to force the Autobaud on DSELite but it doesnt work, DSELite shows a message the 890 needs the baudrate to be set on "AUTO".
thanking you in advance for your reply and precious help.
If you have not already tried a 2-button reset followed by a 3-button reset, give it a shot. The procedures can be found on this page of the manual:
890_v3.11 Engineering Reference Frame B-D HA468445U004_06.pdf (parker.com), page 9-27
If that does not work, then I am not sure how to get that unit to work again. It is possible that the EEPROM flags have been permanently corrupted. The only solution I could see in that case is to send the drive back to the factory to have them correctly set. A local sales partner could set up the repair order for you.
