Aries drive not enabling

Having issues with Aries drive not enabling.  Cables appear ok. I can talk with drive, see status of drive, but I get a Hardware Drive Enable Error: Aries drive is not enabled via enable input?  This was working last week, had to swap out drives to another machine while we had these drives sent out for repair.  Re-installed repaired drives, but not enabling. Working with AR-04AE and AR-08AE drives.

  • The Hardware Drive Enable error means that you need 24Vdc across Pin 1 and Pin 21 (Enable+ and Enable -).  What controller are you using?  A common problem is that the active levels may be wrong on the controller side for the between the interaction of the Aries' Drive Enable Input and the Aries' Drive Fault Output.  Meaning that the if the active level on the Controller side for the Enable and Fault are out of sync, the system will not enable.  The controller will apply 24V to the Enable and the Aries will then turn off the Fault Output but if the controller misinterprets the Fault signal, it will disable the axis and remove the 24V from the Enable Input on the Aries.
