Implementing the New CMOT Driver

Print Friendly and PDF

If you find that you need to upgrade your version of the CMOT driver for the CTC panel then follow the procedure below. For this procedure you will need a Flash Disk Reader and a keyboard on top of the CTC panel. Also, this procedure will remove the existing application from the flash card. You should upload it to the computer before proceeding.

First, download the newest flashback utility from www.CTCUSA.com. Click on support, then Utilities, then download the "P1-P7 & PS Series MachineShop Shell Flashback Utility (New Shell) for all units." DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE FLASHBACK UTILITY THAT INSTALLS THE MOTION PANEL APPLICATION BECAUSE THIS WILL NOT INSTALL THE NEW SHELL!

Power down the CTC panel and remove the flash card from the side. Put the flash card into the flash card reader attached to your computer. The double-click on the flash utility you just downloaded and run the executable file inside the zipped file. Select the drive letter for which the flash card reader resides and then hit restore flash.

Once this is complete got back to www.CTCUSA.com and click again on support, then software information, then drivers and finally B-C. Then scroll down to find Compumotor and the CMOT driver. Download this file and extract it to the following directory:

C:\MachShop\Ineract\Drivers\CMOT

Make sure to choose to over-write the existing files. To ensure that you have replaced the CMOT driver with the newer version, go to the above directory on your hard drive and right-click on CMOT.dll. Select properties, and then go to the version tab and the highlighted number should something like this "EX-82998-604;" this signifies version 6.04 of the CMOT driver. This number should be the same as the one from CMOT.dll in the zip file you downloaded.

After this is done, download your project to the flash card from Machine Shop.
After downloading your project, place the flash card back into the CTC panel, plug your keyboard to the CTC panel and power it up. Since all of the parameters are set back to defaults, you will have to reconfigure the CTC panel. When you power the unit up, it will go to the Machine Shop Shell; this is where all communications are setup for the CTC panel.

First go to Settings, and then General; select Power On Operation and finally Run Interact. This will ensure that Interact will automatically run on power up.

Select back, then settings again. This time select TCP/IP and make sure that TCP/IP is enabled. If it is not, then enable it. Then select Net Setup. If you are using COM1 then all you need to change is the Baud Rate to 9600. But if you are using Ethernet then the following settings must be made:

IP Address 192.168.10.29 (default, must be on Net 1)
IP Mask 255.255.255.0
Interface Type NE2000 (Use I82557 for PS series)
IRQ 10
PORT 280h

After you have made these settings, select back twice and it will ask you if you want to the reboot the unit. Select yes and you are done.
