InteractX Misc - How do I get my InteractX project off of my old unit and onto my new IPX Powerstation?

Print Friendly and PDF
How do I get my InteractX project off of my old unit and onto my new IPX Powestation?
IMPORTANT NOTE: If the applications uploaded from the old HMI required Third Party software or additional software libraries, you will need to install them on the new HMI. The upload only retrieves the InteractX files and can not transfer any other software the Machine builder may have installed. If, after loading it on the new HMI hardware, the InteractX application will not start and gives messages about missing files or VBA errors, you will need to contact the Machine Builder for help getting those programs for your new system.

What you will need to get started:
HPX
IPX
USB Stick
Keyboard and Mouse
Ability to get to the HPX desktop and access the Deployment Server

To get the application currently on the HPX powerstation, do the following:

1.       Insert the USB stick into the HPX

2.       Power up the unit and exit the project to get to the Windows desktop.

3.       In the system tray down by the clock, there is a black circle with a gray boarder.  This is the Deployment Server.  Right click on the deployment server and select Upload Applications to Disk.

4.       In the Disk Connections Properties box, browse to a location on your USB Stick.

5.       Click Finish.

6.       The deployment server will then begin to bundle the files.  The deployment server icon by the clock will begin to blink green while bundling is in process.

7.       The file on the USB stick will have a .odi extension.

8.       Safely remove the USB stick from the HPX and place it in the new IPX.

Now that you have a copy of the runtime files on your USB stick, you can now download to your new IPX.
Keep in mind that the IPX currently has InteractX version 3.6 installed.  Since it is recommended that your InteractX runtime versions match, you will need to upgrade the old application by loading it in the appropriate development software and when you open it, the message that comes up will ask if you want to upgrade the project. Say yes, and InteractX will upgrade the old application to the same version as the development. This is not like Xpress that lets you select from intermediate versions.
For install CDs, please visit our website www.parkermotion.com for information.
Once you have the correct version installed on your IPX:

1.       Right click on the deployment server and select Download From Disk.

2.       On the Disk Connections Properties window, browse to the .odi file on your USB stick.

3.       Click Finish.

4.       The deployment server will then begin to unbundle the files.  When prompted to delete the selected file, click No.

5.       Once complete, InteractX will ask if you would like to launch InteractX runtime.  Select yes if you would like your application to run.
