Users of the P Drive may notice they see a W-20 (Warning 20) code displayed on their drive's seven-segment display when they connect it to a motor for the first time. Users may also see this warning after finishing their motor configuration.
This warning means "Drive/Motor Combination Error". This just means that the motor has a larger current capacity than the drive and the drive will not be able to draw out the motor's full torque. This warning will not prevent the drive from enabling and running properly. The drive will limit current to what it can supply.
This warning can also mean that the user has assigned the same function to two inputs. For instance, assigning START to Input 1 and Input 2 will generate a W20.
In order to disable this warning in installations where the motor has more current capacity than the drive, follow these steps:
-
In Drive Support Tool, open the Fault Configuration screen.
-
Scroll down to the section labeled "Warn Mask" and check the box labeled "Wrong Setup".
-
Press Save to Memory, then press Software Reset.
-
Verify that the warning is gone from the display.
A full list of possible warnings and their mask codes can be found on page 257 of the EtherCAT P Series User Guide or page 307 of the P Series Pulse-Indexer User Guide. By turning on a bit in the mask, the user can disable a particular warning.
P Series Warning Mask Table
Bit | Warning Code | Warning Name |
---|---|---|
0 | W01 | Main power fail |
1 | W02 | Low encoder battery |
2 | W04 | Software position limit |
3 | W08 | Excessive DB current |
4 | W10 | Operation overload |
5 | W20 | Drive/motor combination error or abnormal I/O configuration |
6 | W40 | Low voltage |
7 | W80 | Emergency signal input |
NOTE: Warning W08 only exists on the pulse-indexer drives (PD-04P, PD-10P and PD-35P).
