The units with part numbers that follow the pattern of P?-###?? were originally designed and manufactured before there was any such thing as a Compact Flash Card.

The P1 units will have a flush back shell and there is a memory module about 2.25 x 2.25 x .25 inches the may be labeled Model FLH-1004 4M FLASHDISK (4 Meg Flash) This memory module does not have an interface that is compatible with anything other than one of the old P1 units. To upload the information from it requires a working P1 unit. The module can be removed and moved to another unit of the exact same type as it is basically the Hard Drive of the DOS hardware. It contains all of the boot files and MSDOS software as well as the Interact software, applications and utilities.

Later models incorporate the CF Card technology via an adapter module which replaced the molded Flash Drive. This CF card can be used with USB card readers on your Windows PC to copy all of the files into a folder for archival purposes. Be sure to set the explorer to "show hidden files" and uncheck the option to "hide system files" so you get everything that the machine builder put on the card.

P1x-XXX There are 3 manuals available for the different revisions of hardware. Revision numbers were after the dash at the end of the serial number and the manufacture date was also on that label. The revision number of the Manual is independent of the hardware revision number. Compare dates of hardware to release date of the manual revision. Worst case, just look in the files for the one that matches your hardware.
