The old InteractX versions 1.x - 3.4 had a "soft" License that was stored on the hard drive and could be "lost" under certain conditions.
If the hard drive failed on the PC or HMI hardware older than the HPX series, the license needs regenerated on the new hardware. Later versions of the Parker HMIs had the runtime license embedded in the mother board hardware.
The license could become corrupted since it is just files on the hard drive and a few times over the years, anti-virus and drive compacting utilities have wiped it out.
Getting relicensed requires your Product Code which is printed on a sticker on the back of the Parker HMIs and would have been on a printed proof of purchase License sheet sent out with stand alone runtime or development software. Running the utility also requires a "hardware code" which the License manager generates.
To use the Product Code to get a new enable code, you need to send it to emn.service@supportparker.com and tell us that you lost your license and we can reset it so it can be used to generate a new License. If it does not get reset, when you try to use it the License manager will tell you no more installs exist for this number. The code is single use and to re-use, we need to unlock it for one more use.
NOTE: Hardware codes are generated dynamically on the HMI or PC on which the license will reside. This code can not be used to license other units and is time sensitive. When licensing a unit, do not generate the hardware code till you are ready to do all of the steps to get and enable the license. The maximum time a code will be good is 24 hours if everything falls just right. It could be much shorter if any other installs are run or changes occur to the hardware which makes the hardware code change.
The Enable Code (Code sent back to your unit from the License activation server) is specific to the unique combination of Hardware Code (dynamically Generated on unit to be licensed) and Product Code (The code you receive printed on the unit product stickers or Paper proof of purchase License document) The hardware code and enable code are both single use and when the enable code is validated, the hardware code changes and the enable code can no longer be used.
InteractX has a built in license manager that can get a new license automatically if the unit is attached to the Internet. If not connected to the Internet the utility has a provision for getting the license off-line via a Web site www.ctcusa.com\registerinteractx which will walk you through the licensing process.
Details for using the license manger are in the following FAQ
Registering old InteractX versions for "soft" license
In the case where you follow all the directions in the How to license FAQ and it looks like the registration worked but when you reboot, it shows 1 hour runtime, you will need to follow the directions in the following PDF before getting the Enable Code reset by apps support and generating a new hardware code.
Be sure to follow all the steps, especially the settings for Windows File Explorer. If any files referenced in the instructions are not deleted, the reinstall of the Cryptkey will not be complete. In some cases the files are actually not there due to Windows issues so as long as the Windows File explorer has the correct settings, it is OK to complete the steps and try to do the license activation.
