Yes you can run a Brushed Permanent Magnet DC motor on the 590+ (if it has a set of Armature leads A+ / A-). You can not run "Brushless DC" Motors on the 590+ as they have general design differences (such as number of lead connections) and are controlled differently (PWM signals through phases). For Brushless DC motors and drives see our "Servo Drive" and "Servo Motor" selections on Parkermotion.com.
For a Brushed PMDC that has a set of armature leads make sure to disable parameters in the configuration:
- Disable the FIELD ENABLE parameter on the FIELD CONTROL function block. This parameter sets whether or not the field will be controlled during operation.
- Disable FIELD FAIL on the ALARMS block. This determines if the drive will monitor for field loss during operation.
