The device manager steps below are for Windows 10. Windows 7 can have the same issue which can happen after a Windows update. The USB drivers can also get replaced by incompatible versions when software is installed that can access the USB ports. Windows USB port issues are not uncommon and can cause problems with any USB devices attached to your PC. Usually, following the same type of process as shown below can identify the misbehaving driver and you can delete it or at least get the correct version for your device selected.
Trouble Shooting:
USB drivers are specific to the USB port. If not able to communicate, try different USB port on your PC.
Verify cable is ok with another device and/or try different USB cable.
If that doesn't work, from the Device Manager, right click and go to Properties on the device, click Uninstall Device. Then connect to the Pseries drive, it should then go to the internet and re-install the driver.
Microsoft Windows 10 update of September 10, 2019 (KB4515384) updated this driver in error under libusb-win32 devices as BETTER_USB_HS.
Many customers have reported this but able to roll-back the driver if it'd previously able to connect (right-click on the device and go to Properties > Driver tab),
or by un-installing the driver (deleting from PC) and then re-connecting to the P-series drive which then will search and install new driver.
Alternative solution:
Go to the Windows Device Manager as shown above.
Locate the "libusb-win32 devices" category and the BETTER_USB_HS device listed underneath it (if this is not shown then your issue is probably one of the things mentioned at the start of this FAQ)
Right mouse click on BETTER_USB_HS and select 'Update driver' -> then Browse my computer -> Let me pick
Select the "USB Input Device" driver which is should have been using after the Drive Support Tool software was installed
Reboot your PC
