ACR9000 replacement will be part of the ACR7000 family. This will closely mimic the ACR9000's feature set as a traditional +/-10 VDC or step-and-direction motion controller. In particular, the axis connectors will have the same pinout aside from the now-absent DriveTALK feature, which should have minimal impact.
A couple features will be noticeably changed:
- On all models (planned variants are 4 and 8 axis), there will only be one master encoder port, whereas the 9000 had two on 6-axis and 8-axis models. It is a 15pin HD D-sub connector and only supports incremental encoders; the ACR9000's aux encoder inputs also support SSI and were 9pin D-sub.
- There will be no CANOpen. Instead, the 7000 supports EtherNet/IP and can be used with a Wago EtherNet/IP bus coupler (same I/O slices). Some I/O readdressing will be necessary for applications transitioning away from CANOpen.
- The ACR7000 can also be an Ethernet/IP node in addition to being an Ethernet/IP scanner. This can be simultaneous.
- The ACR7000 can also share variables via Ethernet/IP with another ACR7000 or IPA. See ACR7000 program samples. In this case, the 2nd controller can be an Ethernet/IP scanner for expansion IO but the first controller is the scanner for the 2nd controller for the variable exchange. The first could also be a node on an Ethernet/IP network.
- The 7000 will run on 24 VDC instead of AC power.
- Each axis board (axis pair 0/1, 2/3, 4/5, 6/7) can only support one type of feedback, either incremental encoder or SSI. So if axis 0 uses incremental encoder, axis 1 must also use incremental encoder. The other option commonly needed is SSI, usually to interface to an Aries drive with absolute encoder motors (ie MPP/MPJ with 7D, 8D or 9D encoder option). This can be worked around in most existing applications and is not expected to impact new applications significantly.
- There are now two Ethernet ports instead of one. Both use the same IP address (default is now 188.8.131.52 instead of 192.168.10.40). No USB or serial port.
- No EthernetPOWERLINK.
- Changes to the bolt pattern on account of smaller product size.
- Faster processor.
