When the Compax3 is set up to generate a simulated encoder output, it will generate A and B channels according to the resolution configured by the user. It will also generate an index or "Z" pulse that can be used by an upstream motion controller for precision homing routines.
For incremental encoders, the drive generates 1 Z pulse per revolution. For resolvers, the drive generates 1 Z pulse per pole pair. For Parker industrial motors, which use single-speed (1 pole pair) resolvers, the drive will therefore generate one Z pulse per revolution. The position at which this pulse occurs is configurable by the user. See objects 620.6 and 620.7 in the User Guide.
