Xpress Manager has the ability to import JPG images that can be used within the application. This is commonly used for company logos, instructional imagery and backgrounds. This is done on the Import/Export menu under Images.
Some users may see Xpress Manager suddenly crash and close when importing a JPG. If this occurs, it is most likely because the JPG in question uses progressive compression, a feature designed to allow a JPG to be sent over a network connection and load gradually with improving resolution, rather than all at once.
Xpress does not support JPGs with progressive compression, which is why the application crashes. If you need to use a JPG in your application and find that it has progressive compression turned on, you will need to modify it. The easiest way to do this is by using Microsoft Paint.
Procedure
1. Right-click the JPG on your desktop or in Windows Explorer (file browser). Click Edit. The file should open in Microsoft Paint.
2. Click File > Save As.
3. Click Save As > JPEG Picture.
4. Save the file to a location on your PC so that it is easy to find later.
5. In Xpress Manager, go back to Import/Export > Images and import the file you just saved. It should now import successfully.
This works because Microsoft Paint does not use progressive compression when it saves an image as a JPG.
