To enable the password protection feature in an AC10 via your DSE Lite download, find the Password block and double click on it to change its values.
You can change the password value itself (supports values from 0 to 9999 for the password value) and then change the ENABLE input to TRUE. You can then do an Install or Full Install to send this down to the drive and once complete, the password will be set to your value and enabled.
DO NOT use the Full Install option unless you have previously extracted the particular drive's existing parameters into your template for your starting point, since a full install will also change and overwrite all of the 'pink' values showing in the DSE Lite template. This includes basic motor data as well as some underlying drive frame size specific data. If you do a Full Install and your template doesn't contain the correct "Frame Dependent" values you may corrupt your drive's configuration and render it inoperable.
Note - Once password protection is enabled, F108 will not display what the password is currently set to nor will you be able to reset to factory default via the F160=1 parameter setting so use caution and make sure you know what you are setting the password value to BEFORE you initial the install procedure. There is not a secret 'backdoor'.
To determine if the drive has the password feature enabled (factory default is disabled and F108 value is 8 by default), you can do a Refresh Full from the Command menu. You will see this reference in the Scratch Pad.
When the drive is in password protection mode, you can still go online to monitor parameters. However, you will not be able to Extract the parameters. Trying to extract parameters will result in this error. Nor will parameter F108 report the actual password value currently set, it will only show 0 in this case.
To allow subsequent installs (Install or Full Install) or parameter extraction (Extract Drive Parameters), you will need to enter the current password value via parameter F100 on the keypad. Once temporarily unlocked, you can extract or install as needed. Once an install has completed, the drive will automatically be reset and thus the password will be re-enabled unless your configuration download set the F107 parameter back to FALSE.
