9-pin COM port on the computer:
Pin 2 goes to the TX on the ZETA.
Pin 3 goes to the RX on the ZETA.
Pin 5 goes to the GND on the ZETA.
25-pin COM port on the computer:
Pin 2 goes to the RX on the ZETA.
Pin 3 goes to the TX on the ZETA.
Pin 7 goes to the GND on the ZETA.
CONNECTIONS ON THE ZETA
P-CUT connected to GND. If this connection is opened, motion is killed and the program in progress is terminated. If it is not grounded when motion is commanded, motion will not occur and the error message "WARNING: PULSE CUTOFF ACTIVE" will be displayed in the terminal emulator.
AUX-P and V_I/O connected to +5V. These provide +5V to the P-CUT pull up resistor. They also provide power and logic to the HOM, NEG, POS and TRG inputs. (NOTE: The AUX-P and V_I/O are not required to be able to get motion, but they are required for other capabilites. They also have certain affects on the P-CUT.)
(NOTE: ZETA 6104 Indexer/Drives sold prior to October 2, 1997 do not have a V_I/O pin. The starting Serial Number was 97100200500. In the cases without V_I/O pins, disregard any references to the V_I/O.)
The INTERLOCK pins must be jumped to one another. The motor will have A+, A-, B+, B- and EARTH connections. Refer to a ZETA User Guide for the connections for a particular motor.
At this point, all that needs to be done is to type in LH0 to disable the Hard Limits. Then GO should turn the motor one revolution if everything is still set to the defaults.
