Apex MaxPlus (MPM) Resolver Option 1 Connection

Print Friendly and PDF
The following is a table for the MaxPlus (MPM) Resolver Option 1 Termination to Apex Connections:
Feedback Connections
Apex Feedback Connector Option 1 Resolver Cable (170-24xxx)***
Wire Function Terminal Desc Pin Letter Function Wire Color***
Motor Temp+ MT+(Yellow) N THERM Blue/White
Motor Temp- MT-(Orange) U THERM Black/White
Sin+ Green(Grn) H SIN Yellow
Sin- Blue(Blu) F SIN GND Blue

Cos- Red(Red) G COS GND Black
REF+ Brown(Brn) E REF Red/White
REF- White(Wht) R REF GND Yellow/White
Shield Shield D RES SHLD Drain

***The wire colors may not apply to your cable. Option 1 resolver cable wire colors can vary, however, the wire function should be consistent among all cables. If your cable wire marker (labels) are no longer present or readable, please contact Parker.

Phase A A A Phase R Red
Phase C C B Phase S Black
Phase B B C Phase T Blue
Motor Ground Mtr Gnd D PE GND Green/Yellow

Notes:
Motor Phase Connection - Because the commutation cycle for the MaxPlus (MPM) servo motors is different than the legacy Compumotor servo motors, the motor phase leads must be switched on Phase B and Phase C in order to get proper commutation between the Apex Drive and the MaxPlus.
Resolver/Encoder Out Polarity - resolver will count positive when the motor shaft rotates clockwise. Also, the encoder output signals on the Encoder Out connector will count in the positive direction as well. Therefore, a clockwise rotation of the shaft will increase resolver counts when Actual Position is queried on the drive/controller version, and will increase the encoder counts sent out of the drive to an external device connected to the Apex drive only.6K Controller connection - the Encoder Output counts correctly to a positive commanded input on the Compax3, therefore, we do not need to make any adjustments to the feedback in the 6K (ENCPOL0).
ACR Controller connection - the Encoder Output counts correctly to a positive commanded input on the Compax3, therefore, we do not need to make any adjustments to the feedback in the ACR (MULT is positive).
