Cables - BE, SM, NeoMetric/J Cable Options

Print Friendly and PDF

Here is a description of the cable options for the SM and NeoMetric motors. Please refer to the SM motor flyer or NeoMetric motor flyer for more details.

PS Military Style Connectors The "PS" Style connectors are the newest series of connectors available. These Parker Style connectors were chosen specifically with Parker amplifiers in mind. This connector option offers greater value, convenience, and reliability. In addition, the PS connectors consolidated the hundreds of different types of feedback and motor power cables into roughly ten cable offerings to be used across all motor and amplifier lines. This connector option should be designed into all new applications.

Flying Leads--FL This wiring option, "FL", simply features multiple 18 inch long wires exiting from the motor body. This option features an extruded alumninum housing which is available only for encoder motors.

Flying Leads--FO This wiring option, "FO", simply features multiple 18 inch long wires exiting from the motor body. This option features a plastic encoder cover and no connector housing which is available only for encoder motors.

Pipe Thread--PT option features two 1/2 -14 NPT threaded holes in the connector housing, and internal screw terminal connections for motor and feedback leads. The "PT" connection option is only available on 92mm motors.

10 ft and 25 ft Cabled Motors-- Identified as "10" and "25" respectively, this option features tow cables hard-wired into the motor body. The opposite ends have stripped wires. One cable contains the four motor phase wires. The second cable contains Hall-effect and encoder signals.

MS Military Style Connectors--The "MS" option provides quick disconnect, bayonet style connectors attached to the motor body. Mating cables or connectors are ordered separately. With this version, motor phase wires are on one connector, the Hall and encoder signals on the other. This option works well if all cables enter into a cabinet enclosure and then to a terminal strip. Customer wiring takes over from that terminal strip to the other motion control components. This option also applies itself nicely to amplifiers with built in controllers, such as the TQ10X. When specified with the "R" for resolver feedback option, the motor phase wires reside in one connector and the resolver signals in the other. If you are ordering cables for the "MS" style motor, you must order "MS" style cables. The "TQ" style cable will not work the "MS" style motors.

TQ Military Style Connectors--The "TQ" option was added dues to customer demand. While using the same connectors mentioned in the "MS" style option, the wiring of those connectors are different. Now the Hall effect signals join the motor phase wires in one connector. The second connector just has encoder signals. This version applies well in applications where the Hall and motor phase wires divert directly to an amplifier while the encoder signals are routed directly to the controller. If you are ordering cables for the "TQ" style motor, you must order "TQ" style cables. The "MS" style cable will not work the "TQ" style motors.

GS Military Style Connectors-- The "GS" option was added to accommodate the Gemini Series Amplifiers. This option is similar to the "MS" wiring option, except the temperature switch leads are moved from the motor connector to the feedback connector. This connection option is applicable only to the SM series motors. This connection option should be used with the "GS" or "GB" cables.

"GS" and "GB" Cables--These cables are designed for use with the Gemini Series Amplifiers. The cable ends are terminated in the mating feedback and power connectors for the Gemini Series Amplifiers. These cables feature a braided metal shield and are CE(EMC) compliant. The "GB" cables set includes the brake leads in the feedback connector, the "GS" set does not have brake leads. Specify the "GS" connection option for the SM motors for use with these cables.
