AC10 modbus RTU fault reset

Torsten Hanssons El AB
By  Torsten Hanssons El AB over 1 year ago

Hi,

I'm controlling a AC10 over modbus RTU and everything is working fine. I have configured F905 to timeout if communication is lost, this is also working and the drive trip to CE.

However, the fault reset isn't working over modbus when the drive trip into Communication Timeout (CE). I can reset it localy on the drive and on the digital inputs. I have confirmed that in my program I'm sending 7 to command word wich is representing "fault reset", the modbus communication as stated before is also working fine running forward etc. How do I reset CE fault over modbus?

/Tim

    Hello Tim,

What do you have F905 set to?

From my experience you can not reset this trip via a Modbus Command as the trip itself means that the drive has lost Modbus communications. It wont try to reestablish this connection until the trip is reset, via the keypad or a digital input.

    Thank you,

    Sam

    Hi,

It is set to 10 seconds.

If the drive has lost communication and then the communication is reestablished again it should be able to be resetted via modbus aswell. This is a normal behaviour for most VFDs on the market. There isn't a reason that it shouldn't be able to be reset over modbus, this makes is impossible to use for remote locations.

    /Tim

Turns out that you have wrong modbus information in the manual, I send command word to AC10 with a 7 that is stated in the manual to be fault reset. But it came to my knowledge from our supplier that it should be a 9.
Sending a 9 would indeed reset the drive and also the CE error, please confirm that it is indeed a 9 that is correct to use when resetting fault on AC10 drive
    /Tim
