Hey guys, we are attempting to drive an axis consisting of a custom rotary servo motor of type CM231FJ-118871 using a VIX500 driver. The motion is jumpy, i.e. no motion when commanded, then a large position move that results in a (PE) error. We believe it could be the result of hardware incompatibility or incorrect gain settings. For now, we are going to investigate hardware compatibility.
To investigate the motion issue, we are verifying that the system is configured with compatible hardware.
Question 1: The VIX500 has a hardware sticker label as VIX500AH, however when interfacing with the Easi-V software, it's configuration reads as a VIX500AE base drive. Would either version support our rotary servo motor?
Question 2: The easi-v software also indicated that our vix500AE drive is configured for linear motors, not a rotary servo motor that we are attempting to drive. It is possible to use the current configuration of the vix500 to control a rotary servo motor (CM231FJ) even if it is configured for linear motors? If not, can it be reconfigured?
We have the system wired for external STEP/DIR control passed in via X4 input. We have it configured for digital position control with encoder feedback.
