Dear all ,

I have drive 590  35 A  for DC motor 8.3 KW  , non drive bearing was damaged cause S.C between field and armature and cause fuse burnt out and when run drive without load feeding fuse burnt again

after repair drive by changing power module test the drive with motor

motor run for 1 sec  & alarm appeared field failed , although field resistance till F+ and F- drive terminal was 168 ohm "healthy"

is this problem at drive field circuit or something else ,

Good morning.  Yes, this is very likely a problem with the field circuit.  After a motor short, it is sometimes necessary to replace all of the SCRs in a drive.  There could have been an overcurrent event in the field circuit when the motor shorted -- hard to say.  I would probably check the field fuses and replace them.  Perhaps your field circuit is good and you just need new fuses.

Otherwise, you probably need a new SCR and diode for the field.  If you can provide your drive's catalog number (starts with 590 or 955), I can recommend a spare part.

Sounds like you might not have the right equipment for measuring this.  If you want to measure current from a drive, you should really use a non-contact current probe.  Using an ammeter can be problematic since many ammeters are rated for low current.

if you want to replace the power board, which contains the field circuitry, you need part number AH470280U007.  Your local Parker distributor or integrator can help you get one.  Alternatively, you could send the unit in for repair at the factory.  This is a good option if you already have a spare drive you can install and aren't in a rush.  We test the drives we repair, so we can catch any other issues that may be present on the drive (in case the motor damaged something else).  Parker repair services can be purchased through a distributor or integrator.

If you do not know which distributors/integrators are in your area, send an email to emn_support@parker.com with your phone number, company name and zip code and we will connect you to a territory manager who can set you up.
