Flashback Utilities for the CTC DOS Based PowerStations - If you have Interact ver 7 it installs all the necessary Flashbacks.

Print Friendly and PDF
NOTE: Interact development and the Flashback utilities MUST be run in Windows XP and the utilities require a Flash Card Reader for the CF Card.
NOTE: Do not attempt to Install Interact or the utilities in Windows 7 and higher. It will not correctly install and may be VERY difficult to remove.

Flash Back Utilities for my XPR/XPR2.

EDIT 12/20/2018

The linked flashback utilities in the original FAQ posting will work if you have old systems and old Interact development software.

BUT: The last revision of Interact (ver 7) which is required for the PA2/P13 hardware includes four flashback utilities that cover all past and current HMI families.

When you user the Windows Start button and look in "All Programs"  then open the MachineShop folder, you will see the flashback utilities.

They are called :

"Flashback for HPC" Which was a custom build of the HPC to run MSDOS

"Flashback for PA2-00 (Headless)" This is for a PA2 PowerStation that has no display. Do not use this for any other PA2s as it has no video or touchscreen drivers.

"Flashback for PA, PA2, P13" For All PA / PA2 / P13 units EXCEPT the PA2 Headless.

"Flashback for PS" This utility is designed to work with ALL PowerStation HMIs prior to the PA release. All of the P# series (P1/P2/P3 etc...) All of the PS## series (PS10/PS15 etc...)

END of Edit

*Original FAQ with old Flashback Utilities.*

The flashback utilities are used to restore an existing powerstation to its original factory settings. The flashback utility will erase the contents on the card and restore the necessary powerstation files. To restore your application, you will need to download your project using Machine Shop Toolbar.

Things to keep in mind:

1. You MUST have a compact flash card reader in order to flash the card back to factory defaults. A compact flash card reader can be purchased from a local electronics store, Best Buy or Wal-Mart (where available).

2. The flash back utility WILL erase everything from the card. It is critical to make sure you have a back up of your application PRIOR to flashing back.

3. The flash back utilizes MUST be run on Win XP. On Win7, it'll complete but not restore the files on the CF card.

Below is a list of hardware platforms and the appropriate flashback utility.
P1 PowerStation with Workstation shell
(hint: Workstation and PowerStation shell units have the buttons going horizontally across the bottom of the screen)
P2-P7 PowerStation with Workstation shell
(hint: Workstation and PowerStation shell units have the buttons going horizontally across the bottom of the screen)
P1-P7 & PS PowerStations with Machine Shop Shell
(hint: Machine Shop shell units have the buttons going vertically along the left side of the screen) ** Not for PA PowerStations
PA, P13, PA2 PowerStations with Machine Shop Shell
(hint: Machine Shop shell units have the buttons going vertically along the left side of the screen)
