EDC TDC XDC VRP PMC

Print Friendly and PDF

The EDC TDC VRP XDC PMC controllers are obsolete and no longer available. They are no longer repairable.

Depending upon the application, the ACR9000 and ACR9600 series controller platforms could be considered as a replacement, or the Compax3 series servo drive/controllers. For Temposonics® transducer applications, the ACR9000 doesn't receive the older signal format feedback (LH or II position sensors) but MTS Sensors Corp (no relation to Parker Hannifin Corp) does offer newer tranducers with digital SSI feedback that is compatible with the ACR9000. This digital feedback provides more robust feedback and is an industry standard feedback.

The ACR9000 uses AcroBasic programming language. The ACR9600 uses IEC61131-3 (Ladder Logic, Structured Text or Continuous FlowChart programming languages). With standard analog drives, the maximum number of axes is 8; with EthernetPowerlink drives, the maximum number of axes is 16.

Communication: RS-232, RS-485, ethernet, USB, Ethernet/IP for interface to Allen-Bradley PLCs
Software: ACR-View (free)
Onboard I/O:
2 or 4 axes: 31 inputs, 4 outputs
6 or 8 axes: 62 inputs, 8 outputs
Expansion I/O with Parker I/O using CanOpen port
Interact Xpress platform allows quick programming of HMI to the ACR9000 or ACR9600 and communication drivers to further interface to other PLCs.

The Compax3 T40 is a servo drive/controller and uses the IEC61131-3 language (Ladder Logic LD, Structured Text ST, Continuous Flow Chart CFC, Sequential Flow Chart SFC, Function Block Diagram FBD). It's available in single axis C3S, high powered C3H or multi-axis C3M configurations. Each drive has dedicated encoder/resolver feedback for motor control in addition to secondary feedback input (incremental or absolute, quadrature or SSI).

Multiple drives can follow the primary drive as a slave using the HEDA motion bus (I12T11 with M10 option) or can cam in and out based on the same primary setpoint of the master unit with a I11T40M10. HEDA can be used up to 32 axes.

General details on the Pemstar controllers (MTS Automation EDC TDC VRP PMC) are available below:

EDC100 (445115-04) and TDC100 (429577-04)
The controllers were single axis only, capable of using the feedback of an encoder (EDC) or a Temposonics® transducer (TDC) LH and II position sensors

EDC200 (445114-04) and the TDC200 (429576-04). These products are a two axis controller.

The XDC offered 1 to 28 axes of control, 54 inputs and
37 outputs, stepper (open or closed loop), servo (standard single feedback closed loop or dual-loop, encoder or Temposonics® transducer).

XDC700 or XDC710:
- 5 dedicated outputs
- 18 dedicated inputs
- 32 input/output points which can be configured as inputs or outputs
- 4 high-speed sensor inputs are provided

XDC720
- 56 input/output points which can be used as inputs or outputs
- 4 high-speed sensor inputs are provided

General Features:
- RS 232 or RS 485, Optional keypad
- Programs in the two-axis model can run two axes independently, interlocked, or in ratio to one another
- Multiple controllers can be coordinated through digital I/O or multi-drop serial communications
- Programs contain readable statements like WAIT, REPEAT, and RAMP
- Up to eight programs for each axis can be stored internally
- Battery-backed RAM allows user programs and setup parameters to be saved while power is off
- LCD screen, displaying 4 lines of 16 characters each
The VRP was the same controller with special firmware for rotary knife application.

As this is a major upgrade involving new programming, you may contact your local Parker Automation Technology Center distributor. Local ATCs are familiar with the ACR9000, ACR9600 and Compax3 and can offer programming services or can recommend local integrators. Contact factory if you have further questions.

The PMC10 and PMC20 were sold by Parker Hydraulics and were the same as the TDC100 and TDC200.
