PHD displays use a USB port built into the Molex Connector for application updates. As the USB connection is built into the Molex connector, an adapter is required to interface to standard USB cables and memory sticks.
Loading the application from a PC with the PHD as USB Device
Loading the application from a USB Stick with PHD as USB Host
If the updates need to be loaded directly on the machine, the machine needs a USB port.
It is recommended to use a sealed panel mount USB port for use in equipment with the PHD50 for software updates. In addition, care must be taken to make sure proper shielding and wiring is used in the installation to minimize noise and improve data integrity. If data integrity is not maintained, the PHD device may not be recognized in the PC, or the PHD may not recognize the USB stick.
Sealed Panel Mount USB Port
If the service tech will load it with a PC, the PHD needs to be a USB Device and the USB Port needs to be A or B Male. Series B USB port can be installed for use with a printer cable.
USB B Series
If the service tech will load it with a USB Stick, then the PHD needs to be a USB Host and the USB Port needs to be a A Female. Series A USB port may be installed for use with a USB memory stick.
USB A Series
The PHD requires all four USB wires be used (PWR, GND, D+ and D-). Make sure cables and adapters have all four wires attached, some may not use all four.
